MSR is a great product for cleaning heavily encrusted coins and ancient artifacts without using electrolysis! Our MSR solution will slowly melt encrustations without any further pitting and will reveal all the hidden details of your coins and artifacts. It WILL strip the patina from an item if the item is soaked for too long in the solution so the key is to closely monitor your item when soaking it. Simply remove it from the cleaner and run fresh water over it and brush it off. Then repeat until the item is cleaned to your satisfaction.
It is not necessarily the best product to use on ALL coins and artifacts, as each item is unique and different. It will not bring back details if the details are already gone. But, it is an invaluable weapon to have in your coin and artifact cleaning arsenal as it is superior to many cleaning methods, depending on the condition of the item being cleaned.
MSR is an immersion cleaner. You must immerse the item being cleaned and soak it over time until the desired results are achieved. The cleaning process using this cleaner is similar to soaking for weeks or months in plain water with intermittent weekly brushing of the item.
