Difference between hair soap and solid shampoo.
Both products are solid washes that lather and clean hair and scalp. Nevertheless, these are in essence two fundamentally different products.

Hair soap is a boiled soap consisting of the basic ingredients fat and lye. Different combinations of oils determine the level of care of the hair soap. When the soap ripens, washing active substances are created which ensure cleaning. Our hair soap is made from natural raw materials.

Solid shampoo, on the other hand, is not saponified or boiled. It consists of various ingredients, usually surfactants, water, oils and possibly Active ingredients that are mixed and pressed together. Less commonly, solid shampoos can also be melted and poured.

Which product is right for my needs?
This depends entirely on your needs and hair situation. In general, we recommend hair soap only for chemically untreated, undamaged hair. After bleaching, for example, a special shampoo would be more useful that meets the special needs. Here we give you some facts of both variants. Will you find yourself again?

HAIR SOAP

At puremetics a purely natural product that cleans hair and scalp mild, but effectively. It contains no synthetic surfactants and is therefore the gentlest form of cleaning.

Anyone who has always used conventional shampoos should know that a short conversion phase of approx. 3 weeks. Hair and scalp must first get used to the milder form of cleansing. During this time, if necessary, embedded silicones etc. from the scalp and hair. In the end, you can enjoy stronger, healthier hair and scalp.

Good to know: the water hardness is decisive.
In general, soft water is more suitable for washing your hair with soap. How hard your water is, you can ask the municipal utilities especially for your region. From 14 degrees you speak of hard water and from 8 degrees of soft water. We have included a kind of "descaler" to our hair soaps. This sounds fun at first, but is a real game changer for use in hard water.

Firm shampoos.

At puremetics a hybrid product made from synthetic and natural raw materials. Even if we use a mild surfactant, it degreases the scalp more than a soap. We add more nourishing oils. Water hardness plays less of a role here.

No change is necessary as it acts like a conventional shampoo. In addition, solid shampoos are also good for chemically treated hair, as special active ingredients can be added.

Application: lather the soap intensively between your hands with water. Massage the foam thoroughly onto your wet scalp with your fingertips. This should create a rich, creamy foam mountain. Then rinse the soap foam thoroughly. Repeat shampooing if necessary. a second time, if not enough foam has been created, because the thorough lather is very important when cleaning with soap. You can also let the soaps glide directly over wet hair and lather your scalp. Most people do not need to shampoo their lengths and tips as the flowing foam is sufficient when rinsing. Try out what works best for your hair.

Tip: We recommend an acidic rinse as an alternative to a conditioner. Mix 1 litre of water with 20 ml of apple cider vinegar and rinse your hair after washing your hair. Then do not rinse your hair again with water, but gently pat your hair dry with a soft towel. The acidic rinse closes the cuticle layer, makes your hair manageable and gives shine. The perfect alternative to a conditoner. The smell of the vinegar disappears when drying and is no longer noticeable later.

Note: The more chalky the water, the higher the likelihood that the soap will react with the limescale contained and leave small, white flakes on the hair and scalp (the so-called lime soap). Therefore, it is important that you really rinse the soap very thoroughly, if necessary even with boiled water, if you have very calcareous water. A two-stage acid rinse also provides a remedy. In the first step, mix a stronger acidic rinse with 50 ml of vinegar to 1 litre of water and rinse it. Then repeat with the weaker acidic rinse and do not rinse.

Professional tip: with the hair soap and the acidic rinse, you already save yourself shampoos and conditioners. You also do not need a conventional hair treatment if you regularly pamper hair and scalp with an oil treatment. It is best to massage unrefined, cold-pressed organic oil (e.g. almond, olive or argan oil) onto the scalp and spread with a natural brush to the tips. Leave to work overnight and wash thoroughly with your hair soap the next day.

Storage: After use, please let the hair soap air dry. It is best to use our soap stones or soap bags.
